Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of The Journey is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation.
Our mission is to change how the church and community views ministry. We believe that the heart of Jesus’ ministry was not in a temple or church, it was out among people. Therefore, outreach should be viewed as a lifestyle, not an event. As we change our lives to look more like Christ’s, people will see our love for them. The purpose of this team is to organize events to establish relationships with people that will help share God’s love for them. The Journey Outside the Box is just one example of how we can show God’s love. It models what our daily lives of serving should look like. It is our desire to enter into relationships with people to allow them to discover a living faith that follows the lead of the Holy Spirit.
The Ark Learning Center
We believe that our young children are some of our most valuable assets and
treasures. Therefore, it is our desire to provide a safe, loving and caring
environment for your child. Our teachers and caregivers are committed to meeting the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of each child and their family. Each person serving in this area has been screened and received training through Reducing the Risk video series.
The Ark Learning Center is provided during the 10:30 am Worship Service.
The Nursery is available for newborns, crawlers and beginning walkers. and the Pre-K classes are for children up to 5.
We continue to have a need for more helpers and teachers.
Please pray about this opportunity to serve our young families in our church. If you are interested, please contact Candace by leaving a message at the church office.
Elevate Children’s Ministry
Through fun, creative and interactive techniques, your child will begin to have a deeper understanding of the Bible. They will not only learn what the Bible says, but also how it applies to his or her life. This class meets during the Sunday Morning Worship service and every Wednesday from 6:15pm-8:00pm.
Through the Elevate program, the energetic staff are able to bring the bible to life with modern techniques that kids can really relate to! With bible stories as the foundation of each lesson, kids actively engage in games, songs, story
telling, offerings, memorization, review activities, and they get to experience the small group atmosphere that is vital to creating meaningful relationships.
For more information please contact Laura Moore.
Healthy churches recognize the need to welcome guests effectively as they arrive for Sunday services and special events. We have enlisted and trained a group of greeters who serve with the needs of newcomers in mind. We would love for you to be a part of our team. If you feel led to serve in this capacity, please contact the church office.
The vision of the worship team is to lead heartfelt worship that conveys the message of God’s love by our overflowing joy found in Him. We value the importance of both head and heart in our worship experience—to fill our minds with biblical thinking about God, others, ourselves, and life, while at the same time putting renewed and greater emphasis on giving expression to our heart’s affections for God during worship.
If you are interested in being a part of the worship team, please contact Chris Ova.
Nursing Home Ministry
The Journey Nursing Home Ministry currently takes place at LifeCare Center in Osawatomie, Kansas on the first Sunday of each month. People who are confined to a nursing home and can’t get to a church building need Christians to share the hope of Jesus Christ with them. Our ministry team delivers a short message based on scripture, has prayer time, and several songs that we sing with the residents.
If you wish to be a part of this team or know of a resident that needs a visit please contact Jeff Walmann.
